Tips For Your Family Trip To Falls Creek

My wife and I returned last week after taking our kids on a ski holiday to Falls Creek. It was one of the best holidays we have been on as a family, the experience was awesome and the memories will last a lifetime. If you haven’t tried it yet then I can’t recommend it enough, it’s something the whole family will enjoy. If you are planning to take your family to Falls Creek for a ski holiday I have put together a list of some tips that will make it a success.

Organise The Right Clothes

If you have a look at the latest falls creek snow forecast you will get an idea of what you can expect. It’s a good idea to borrow ski gear if you can from friends, I found that most friend circles have what you need and no one minds sharing because they know how expensive it can be – make sure you have good goggles and gloves. The things you should buy are thermals and some decent socks.

Prepare For The Car Ride

If you’re looking at a long car journey then you need to plan properly. I made sure the iPad was fully charged and had some educational games to keep the kids happy in the backseat, you can always pull out the trusty games like eye spy if needs be. Plan your stops before you leave, so know where you’re going to have lunch and where you will have a break. Always have healthy snacks to hand too!

Take It Easy

Some people really do try to pack too much into each day and it just goes horribly wrong. You have to remember that skiing really does take it out of you and it can leave the kids feeling very exhausted indeed. Take time away from the slopes, have nap time and keep them happy, you don’t want to put kids off the idea of future holidays- this is easy if you have accommodation on the mountain.

The Right Accommodation

This will make or break your holiday. Choose a lodge which is on the mountain so you don’t have to get a bus to the slopes each morning, that just stresses everyone out before you get started! It also makes taking breaks a lot easier and you can pop back anytime you like. Family friendly accommodation with onsite nannies are an absolute god send – they are pros and will look after the kids whilst you have dinner and a chat with your partner.
