Spain for Sports Fans

Winter is on its way and that means there’s plenty of wind, rain and snow just around the corner… so not much change from the Great British Summer really. While football fans have the new season to look forward to, the rest of us are running short on opportunities to get outside and enjoy our favourite activities.

However, you don’t need to succumb to the winter slump; make the most of the cheap flights to Spain instead and take a sporting holiday this autumn.

There are loads of great local sporting communities and organisations to be found where you can get involved and share your passion with likeminded folk, improve your skills and soak up your surroundings of the beautiful Spanish scenery.

Here’s a quick look at just some of the options for you to enjoy an active break abroad.

Golf

Scattered all over the country, golf courses in Spain are plush and perfect for practicing your swing. There’s a course to suit every style and ability and just take a look at the PGA Catalunya course, it’s stunning!

Windsurfing

While the wet and windy British weather means you can enjoy this sport all year round at home, the cool waters of the Atlantic Ocean just make it that much more enjoyable. The Spanish archipelago of the Canary Islands is home to Gran Canaria, a windsurfer’s paradise where armatures and pros alike all gather to take advantage of the optimum conditions.

Tennis

If you or the kids are serious about Tennis then you need to visit La Manga club in Murcia, Spain where you can take on lessons with skilled instructors or simply just enjoy the environment as a prime location for practicing. It’s also a great get away for golf fans.

Bowles

If you enjoy the steady pace of lawn bowling then don’t let the rain of Blighty keep you indoors. The Bowling in Spain website is a great resource that tells you everything you need to know including information on events, news and information on clubs.

So don’t let the weather hold you back. Get out, get active and get to Spain to keep enjoying yourself and your sport.
